Jonathan’s Legacy

In the summer of 2025, Vallejo Late Night Basketball invited local young people to design a logo that would represent our program. We were looking for something that reflected the spirit of VLNB — energy, community, pride, and possibility.

Jonathan Hernan Gonzalez submitted the design that would ultimately become the official mark of Vallejo Late Night Basketball.

His artwork stood out immediately.

It captured not just basketball, but belonging. Not just a program, but a movement.

The Selection

Jonathan’s logo was selected as the winner of the youth logo contest based entirely on its creativity and strength.

No one involved in the selection process knew at the time that Jonathan had tragically passed away the weekend before winners were announced.

His design won purely on merit.

What we later learned only deepened the meaning of his contribution.

It appears on:

  • Flyers

  • T-shirts and hoodies

  • Social media graphics

  • Program materials

  • Event signage

It is more than branding. It is youth ownership made visible.

The original contest prize — a $50 Visa gift card and two season passes
to Six Flags — was given to Jonathan’s family.

On opening night, we honored Jonathan’s memory alongside his loved
ones, celebrating his creativity, his life, and the lasting impact of his design.

Honoring His Contribution

Jonathan’s logo now represents Vallejo Late Night Basketball everywhere.

A Lasting Symbol

Every time the VLNB logo appears, it carries Jonathan’s legacy.

His design reminds us that:

Youth voice matters.

Youth creativity shapes this program.

Young people are not just participants — they are builders.

Jonathan’s contribution is permanently woven into the identity of Vallejo Late Night Basketball.

We are deeply grateful for his gift.

And we carry it forward with pride.
